Why is this case blocked?
The case names its own blocker
A diagnosis case does not carry a single "blocked" flag. It checks five things and lists whichever of them is not yet true:
- Prerequisite hold open. The vehicle carries an open hold. Clear the hold before anything else on the case can move.
- Technician unassigned. No technician owns this case yet.
- No confirmed diagnosis. Analysis B has finished, but no root cause is confirmed — nothing below that line moves without a person confirming it. One blocker, two labels: it reads Diagnosis not confirmed before a diagnosis is confirmed, and Final conclusion not recorded when a diagnosis was confirmed earlier but the case's own final conclusion was never written.
- Scanner or road test still missing. Analysis A ran, but no scan result or road-test notes are on file yet, so there is nothing for Analysis B to be based on.
- VIN not recorded. The vehicle has no VIN on file, and Analysis A will not run without a decoded one.
Each reason on the case page carries its own control where the signed-in role can act on it — Edit VIN, Record test, Confirm diagnosis, Update hold. A reason with no button next to it belongs to a different job on the shop.
"Stuck in diagnosis" is a different signal
On the work orders board, a case that has sat in diagnosis past the shop's own patience window is flagged Stuck in diagnosis in red. That flag is a queue warning about how long the case has waited — it is not itself the reason. Open the case and read the blocker list above to find the actual cause.
What to do next
Open the diagnosis case. Whatever it needs is named at the top, in the words above, next to the control that satisfies it. There is no second list to check.
