Tekmetric pricing: what each plan costs in September 2026

Tekmetric is one of the few shop management platforms that publishes its prices, which makes it possible to answer the pricing question precisely instead of repeating a sales call. Everything below comes from tekmetric.com/pricing and the vendor's own product pages as of September 2026.

How much does Tekmetric cost per month?

Tekmetric sells four tiers. Three have published prices; the fourth is quoted.

The annual figures are the ones Tekmetric leads with in its own meta description — “plans starting from just $179/month with annual pricing discounts” — and the pricing page displays both the monthly rate and the annual rate side by side on each card. Budget the annual rate only if you intend to pay for twelve months up front; otherwise the month-to-month number is the one that hits your card.

What is included in each Tekmetric plan

Tekmetric's tiers are additive: each one contains everything below it. The published feature ladders are:

Start — inventory and vendor management, digital vehicle inspections, smart jobs, and digital authorizations and invoicing.

Grow adds a labor guide, maintenance schedules, time and job clocks, and parts, inventory and marketing reports.

Scale adds two-way texting, a real-time shop dashboard, a technician board, and employee performance analytics.

Enterprise adds integrated payments, a dedicated account manager, and quarterly business reviews.

The company's headline claim on the pricing page is that it does not charge by user or by repair order: “Every shop gets full access to Tekmetric. Unlimited users, unlimited ROs, unlimited support, no hidden fees.” That structure matters more than any single feature when you are comparing products, because it means hiring a technician does not change the bill.

Tekmetric add-ons: the prices that are not on the plan card

The add-ons each require a plan subscription for every location and are priced per shop per month:

Two things follow from that table. First, the marketing add-on costs almost as much as an entire Start subscription, so it belongs in the “do we actually need this” column rather than the “included” column. Second, the add-ons are per shop, not per group, so a three-location group pays three times the add-on regardless of how many people use it.

The pricing page also invites shops to “ask about our special intro offers,” which is the usual signal that a promotional rate exists and that the number you are quoted may depend on the month you sign. Ask what the price is when the promotion ends.

Does Tekmetric charge per user or per repair order?

No. Tekmetric states plainly that it does not charge by user or by repair order, and that users, repair orders and support are unlimited on every tier. This is a real difference in this market:

• Per-location, unlimited users: Tekmetric, Shop-Ware and ARI all publish unlimited-user plans.
• Per-location with a user allowance: Shopmonkey includes 3 user licenses on Basic, 4 on Clever and 5 on Genius, then charges $20/month per additional user.
• Per-location with analysis allowances: BayStacker prices per location rather than per user, and each location carries 1,000 analysis runs a month on both of its editions.

For a transmission shop, the practical question is how many people need a login. Reception, the diagnostician, the parts counter, two builders, the R&R technician, QC and the person who does the books can easily be eight humans. On an unlimited-user plan that is free; on a metered plan it is a line item.

Contract terms, cancellation and what to confirm before you sign

The pricing page is explicit about the commercial shape: “Choose flexible month-to-month billing or a discounted annual plan. No long-term contracts required.” There are two billing modes, the annual one costs less per month, and there is no stated contract term on the month-to-month option.

What the pricing page does not answer, and what belongs in your own signed order form:

• What notice is required to cancel, and whether a cancellation mid-month is prorated or runs to the end of the paid period.
• What happens to the data if you leave — export format, how long it stays available, and whether history comes out as files you can read.
• Whether add-ons can be removed as easily as they are added, and from what date.
• Whether the published price is protected for the term you sign, and what the price is after any introductory period.
• Whether the annual plan is refundable if the shop closes or is sold.

None of those answers is unusual to ask for, and a vendor that will not put them in writing is telling you something.

What a transmission shop actually needs from Tekmetric

A transmission or powertrain shop buys the same platform for a different job, so map the tiers onto unit work before you choose:

• Time and job clocks arrive on Grow. A rebuild shop separates in-car R&R from bench time, and often from diagnosis and road-test time as well. If the shop is paid on flagged hours, those clocks are the difference between knowing where the hours went and guessing. That makes Grow the practical floor for most rebuild shops, not Start.
• Labor times arrive on Grow too. The published tier list puts the labor guide at Grow. For transmission work, labor times are useful for the R&R side and less useful for the bench side, where your own history is the better estimator.
• The scale features are about the front counter. Two-way texting, the real-time dashboard and the technician board matter most in a shop with a dedicated service writer and customers who expect status updates. A rebuild shop whose customers are other shops and fleets may get less from that tier.
• Digital vehicle inspections are on every tier. That is genuinely useful for the initial inspection, but a DVI photo set is not a diagnosis. The diagnosis is the road test, the scan data, the pressure test and the conclusion — and that record is what a transmission shop should test hardest.

Bring three specific tests to a Tekmetric demo or trial:

1. Build a job with R&R, bench rebuild, converter replacement and reinstall, and see how the clocks and the labor lines report them separately.
2. Add a part with a core charge, receive it, return the core, and find where the credit appears.
3. Close a job, reopen it as a comeback, and check whether the original unit history is still attached and whether the rework hours show against the original job.

None of those tests is unreasonable, and all three are cheaper to run before you migrate than after.

The math below is illustrative — it uses published list prices and assumes no promotional rate, no taxes and no payment processing fees.

Read the last two rows again, because that is the entire point of doing the arithmetic before the demo: the marketing add-on more than doubles a single-location bill, and the multi-shop add-on is charged per shop rather than per group.

How Tekmetric pricing compares with the other systems a transmission shop considers

The honest read of that table is that the entry prices are close together and the differences live elsewhere: in per-user charges, in add-on pricing, in migration fees, and in whether the product models unit work at all. Tekmetric is one of several systems worth comparing, and if the shop often rebuilds rather than replaces, the question is less about the plan price and more about whether the record can hold the diagnosis, the unit and the comeback. The short version

For one transmission shop location, Tekmetric realistically means Grow at $349/month paid monthly, or $309/month on the annual plan, plus any add-ons the shop will actually use. Start is $199/$179 and covers estimates, invoicing, inspections and inventory, but it leaves the labor guide and the job clocks out. Scale at $439/$409 buys the front-counter features; Enterprise is a quote.

Confirm the cancellation terms, the export format and the post-promotion price in writing, then run the three unit-work tests. The plan price is easy to compare. Whether the software can hold a rebuild, a core and a comeback is the part that decides whether you are still using it in two years.
