BayStacker at a glance

  • What it is: diagnosis-first auto repair shop management software for transmission and powertrain work. The complaint, the decoded VIN and the first finding become one diagnosis case; Analysis A returns a ranked hypothesis with the next test and the rework risk, a draft until a person confirms it; the work order, parts, build and invoice read from that case.
  • What it costs: Intelligence $149 or Full OS $499 per location per month, billed monthly, with a 30-day free trial and 1,000 analysis runs a month. There is no per-user charge and no annual contract; a plan is cancelled from the billing page.
  • Who it is for: transmission and rebuild shops, fleet powertrain operations, multi-location groups, and general repair shops with a transmission bay.
  • What it does not do: it has no labor guide, no integrated supplier parts ordering, no two-way texting or marketing suite, and it does not process card payments — payments are recorded on the invoice.
  • Moving in: history comes in as a CSV file, one row per past repair, after a dry run reports what would be imported, skipped or refused. There is no direct import from Tekmetric or any other vendor.
  • Moving out: every record can be exported at any time as a zip of CSV files.

AutoLeap vs Tekmetric

The two general systems price almost identically. Tekmetric's figures are from its own pricing page on the same day.

TierAutoLeap, monthlyTekmetric, monthlyAutoLeap, annualTekmetric, annual
Entry (Essentials · Start)$199$199$179$179
Middle (Pro · Grow)$349$349$309$309
Upper (Elite · Scale)$449$439$409$409

The difference is where features land. AutoLeap puts integrated parts ordering on its entry plan and two-way texting on Pro; Tekmetric puts two-way texting on Scale, its third tier, and sells multi-shop, tire and marketing add-ons per shop. Both put the labor guide on the middle tier. Neither lists a diagnosis workflow or a verification gate on its pricing page.

Who should switch, and who should stay

BayStacker fits if

  • The shop's expensive failures are transmissions that come back.
  • The shop wants the finding, the test and the confirmation written down before parts are ordered.
  • The invoice should wait for the road test and code recheck.
  • Marketing is handled elsewhere, or not needed.

Stay on AutoLeap if

  • The shop buys its website, ads and reminders from the same vendor as its software.
  • Parts ordering from inside the repair order saves real time every day.
  • The counter runs on texting and card payments.
  • The work is general repair with the occasional transmission.

Moving from AutoLeap

There is no AutoLeap import. Export the repair history to a spreadsheet file — we help with the export — then bring it in through BayStacker's CSV import: choose the location, choose the file, and Check the import runs a dry run that reports what would be imported, skipped or refused before anything is written. Both BayStacker editions start with a 30-day free trial. The walk-through is in How do I import my history?

Common questions

Is AutoLeap better than Tekmetric?

They cost almost the same — $199, $349 and $449 a month for AutoLeap against $199, $349 and $439 for Tekmetric, and $179, $309 and $409 on both annual plans (read 27 September 2026). AutoLeap puts parts ordering on its entry plan and texting a tier lower; Tekmetric sells multi-shop, tire and marketing as per-shop add-ons. Test both on your own jobs rather than on the price.

What is a good AutoLeap alternative for a transmission shop?

Tekmetric, Shopmonkey and Shop-Ware are like-for-like general alternatives. BayStacker is the diagnosis-first alternative: a case with a ranked hypothesis, the evidence and the next test, and an invoice that waits for verification. It has no labor guide, parts ordering, texting or marketing, so it suits shops where transmissions decide the month.

How much does BayStacker cost compared with AutoLeap?

BayStacker is $149 for Intelligence or $499 for Full OS per location per month, billed monthly with a 30-day free trial. AutoLeap is $199 to $449 a month, or $179 to $409 on annual billing, plus any marketing or payments products.

Can I import my AutoLeap data into BayStacker?

As a CSV file, yes; there is no direct AutoLeap import. The CSV import runs a dry run first and reports what would be imported, skipped or refused before anything is written.
